The fundamental concept behind the Barzan Camp Medical Building was to create a compact and sturdy structure, resembling a rock in the desert. This rigid and solid construction is self-contained and impervious to external impacts.
To accommodate patients, visitors, as well as supply and disposal needs, this dense structure features openings forming a gap, with two main openings in the middle – one to the west and the other to the east of the construction. These two distinct building parts are connected by a glazed middle section, establishing the main corridor for easy access to all units of the building.
On the ground floor, three outpatient departments will be situated next to the main entrance for patients and visitors. VIPs will have a separate entrance on the upper face of the building. Emergency services and diagnostic imaging will also be located on the ground floor, with direct access to the Operating Theater department situated on the first floor.
