Al Asmakh is one of the richest historical sites in Doha, situated near the famous Souq Waqif and the Msheireb project. Dating back to the 1930s, it is one of the largest surviving historical districts of Doha. Despite considerable development around the site, the core has remained true to its historical, traditional Qatari architecture.
Due to its cultural and economic significance, Al-Asmakh presents a significant opportunity for the revitalization of a decaying neighborhood. This ambitious undertaking aims to create a pedestrian-friendly urban hub through the repurposing of historical structures for uses such as shops and gallery spaces, further promoting the cultural fabric of Doha.
